The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, conveyed his insights to the media ahead of the 18th Lok Sabha’s inaugural session today.

Highlighting the inception of this Parliament as a means to actualize the aspirations of the Indian populace, the Prime Minister underscored the vital opportunity to attain new momentum and heights with renewed fervor. He articulated that the 18th Lok Sabha embarks today with the vision of crafting a developed India by 2047. Emphasizing the grandeur of the world’s largest democratic exercise, the Prime Minister expressed pride on behalf of 140 crore citizens. “Over 65 crore voters engaged in the electoral process,” he noted with pleasure, highlighting that this marks only the second instance post-independence where the electorate has entrusted a government with a third consecutive term.

Prime Minister Modi extended his gratitude to the citizens for electing the government for a third term, signifying a resounding endorsement of the government’s intentions, policies, and commitment to the people. PM Modi stressed on the importance of consensus for nation building and affirmed the government’s persistent efforts to serve our country through consensus and collective action to meet the aspirations of 140 crore citizens.

He welcomed the influx of youthful MPs into the 18th Lok Sabha and underscored the importance of inclusive governance and expedited decision-making within the constitutional framework.

Drawing attention to the morrow’s date, the 25th of June, which commemorates 50 years since the imposition of emergency rule, the Prime Minister described it as a dark chapter in Indian democracy. Shri Modi implored the new generation to remember the day when the Indian Constitution was blatantly disregarded, democracy was stifled, and the nation transformed into a prison. He urged citizens to resolve to safeguard democracy and democratic traditions, ensuring such a travesty never recurs. Emphasizing the tripled responsibility bestowed upon the government by its third term election, the Prime Minister assured the citizens of working thrice as diligently and delivering thrice the outcomes.

PM urged the newly elected Members of Parliament to seize this opportunity for public welfare and service, taking every conceivable measure in the public interest. Addressing the role of the opposition, PM Modi stated that the nation’s citizens anticipate the opposition to fulfil their role with utmost dignity and dedication to democracy. He emphasized that people desire substantive action over mere slogans, expressing confidence that the MPs will strive to meet the expectations of the common citizens.

He stressed on the importance of collective responsibility of all Members of Parliament to realize the vision of a developed India and reinforce public trust. He highlighted the empowerment derived from lifting 25 crore citizens out of poverty, fostering a new belief in India’s potential to eradicate poverty imminently.
